1995 spi i replaced the wear ring rebuilt pump whole nine yards impellar looks good so i reused it. Anyways after the new wear ring went in the impellar was hard as hell to get back in. I have to use dish soap and coat the wear ring to get it in now after its all back together when i try to fire it it will barley crank over the shaft moves maybe an inch at a time cause its so tight am I doing something wrong or is there a trick to lube that thing down to get it to crank over to start and wear the ring in? Any help would be great. Thanks

Did you use a oem ring? Your thrust washer is either not in right and not allowing it to turn OR you used a aftermarket ring and it is out of spec binding on the impeller. You will need to remove it and try to hand sand the inside a bit until the impeller will turn by hand OR yank that ring out and buy a oem.

Well that sucks i dont feel like doing that. Oh well. I tried spraying it with wd40 but still no go i was afraid of having to do that. Dang it. Can i reuse the neoprene seal?

Well thats what it was i put oem wear ring in and its a night and day difference. Ill never use aftermarket again

This is a Live and Learn thing,,, We tall people ALL THE TIME and they still go buy an "affordable" wear ring from eBay and then they have issues and they are pissed about it...

There is an aftermarket brand that is good, it is called DELRIN.

I hope many members read your post and realize the right path to take for certain parts...

The parts you really need OEM stuff is, wear ring, starter, rectifier, and starter solenoid.. Those are the hot ones.

Glad you got it figured out and had an opportunity to go hands on with your ski. Absolutely the best way to learn...

Ya you live and learn for sure. Its simple and only took me 30 minutes to get pump off and new wear ring in. Its back together now letting rtv set up. But will def stick to oem for sure next time.

Also i was told from a shop service tech that you can reuse that neoprene seal long as you use the correct torque specs if you have to pull the jet pump off within so many hrs.
