Hey there everyone, im new to this site and hoping to be a watersport noob as soon as possible. So we just bought our waterfront home and the way i see it I cant live on the water without taking full advantage of what sports there is to offer. Wakeboarding has always kinda intrigued me and now I have an itch to jump into the sport full bore.

I realize its probably a pricey sport to get into but oh well, im not the type to squirrel money away. Lets blow it! lol By no means am i rich, actually the opposite lol, but I look at boat ownership as a way of life and investment. Anyhow, i'll admit i know nothing about boats or wakes or anything like that. Little research has taught me that Im going to need a certain type of boat to be able to wakeboard.

Yes i will be a noob, and horrible right off the bat, but id like to think im a quick learner so I really want to buy a boat that wont let me down in a few seasons. At the same time i wanna be realistic and not go overboard on something like these new nautiques that look to be 75+ grand. This is where the seadoo wake came to mind. Is this necessary for me to buy? or should i go used? What scares me about used is that im not a great mechanic by any means and im worried that used may be a money pit. A new boat will give me that piece of mind yes but is it a little overboard?

I/we will want to use a boat for cruising, skiiing, wakeboarding, tubeing, etc. I dont want a one demensional boat. But I dont want to buy a multi purpose boat where in 2 years i say to myself, "man i shouldve bought that other boat....."

Do you guys think that a "seadoo wake" is more than enough boat for a guy like me? Its not as if im 16 and looking for a wakeboarding career lol. Im 28 and well age is catching up so i'd love to say I wanna do crazy tricks...but im realistic, i'll do what i can for as long as i can. I love speed and performance, but dont wanna break myself financially for it.

Or would you guys look at a guy like me and say, "idiot, buy a used 10K boat and it'll be good to go for what you'll use it for"

The seadoo wake appeals to me also because my shore is shallow and i thought a seadoo boat is best for that around the shore so i wouldnt worry about catching a prop on a rock or something. Id be looking at a 40' dock for any boat, but i like the idea of a seadoo staying close to shore for fun with friends and family.

For any canadians that read this, I'm living on the ottawa river, dont know if that can help with any information you may have...Its a fairly big body of water that has its shallow spots.

Sorry if this was long and boring as hell to read, but if you got through it and have any info it'd be greatly appreciated.

thanks guys

cheers!

I didnt find a "seadoo wake" on google search, maybe seadoo wakeboard?

You should buy one and go for it! you only live once! good luck

seadoo.com then go to "sport boats" then "sport" then either the 21 foot or the 23 foot wake

it looks like a gorgeous boat with more than enough performance... if you can afford the payments then go for it!

personally, i would LOVE to buy the new speedster 200 with 510 horsepower... but the money isnt there, so i went with a 1997 challenger 1800... maybe someday! haha

I agree totally but maybe I'm biased. The wakes are great choices and that 200 Speedster. :drool5:

ya the wake does look sharp, im just wondering if id be paying 40K+ for a seadoo that creates a wake that a cheaper 10 year old prop boat would create and save me 30K. Id love to have that wake but its tough to justify. Seadoos seem to definately have their advantages, but can a jet boat create a wake? or is this wake model just a marketing scheme to influence wakeboarders to buy there product
