Water Leaking in front of Flywheel. Help!

1998 GTX RFI. I have water pouring in just in front of the flywheel. There is a cooling line there but it is not the line that is leaking but whatever that plate is that the fitting is attached to. I have scoured the parts list and cannot see a part there. Anyone know what that part is? Is there a gasket there? It is only an inch from the bottom of the hull so I cannot see it only feel it. The water comes out under pressure when running. Can someone point me in the right direction. At a loss.

Ok, seems it is the water channel cover that is leaking. I snugged up the two rear bolts but it only slowed the flow slightly. I guess i have a torn or out of place o ring. I guess this is a pull-the-engine job isn't it?

Boy, that sounds exactly like what happened to my 2001 GTX RFI. I started a thread called "taking on water". I don't know how to copy the link in Tapatalk, but check it out to see if it is the same issue as yours.

On mine, it was right at the connector of the 90 degree elbow fitting that comes out of the bottom of the motor. You cannot see the fitting, you can only feel it. And at idle, water is coming out, but you can't see it. I am guessing there is not enough pressure. I had to be running at 30 mph or so to generate enough pressure to see the leak. I removed the PTO cover and the seat and ran it around til it started spraying water. With the cover off, I was able to see the water spraying, but not the source. But, it was coming from the area where the hose connects to that fitting.

I have purchased the tubing, but still have not replaced it yet as I now have a battery issue.

The fitting is called "90 degree elbow" part number 293700016. Go to seadoo warehouse.com and go to parts list for your ski. It is under cooling system. See if that helps you find it.

Mine is coming in the water channel cover not the fitting. It leaks even when sitting in the water since it is below water level down there.

Ok. I see it. It is in the Crankcase with Rotary Valve section. It is on the very bottom of the engine. If there is a problem with that, I don't see how you fix it with the engine in the ski. Maybe one of the 2 stroke experts can help.

So I felt around under there and I can feel a serious crack in the water channel. The thing leaks like a sieve even sitting in the lake. The previous owner was a friend of mine but a real hack and i am sure he never winterized properly and it froze. I bypassed it and ran the hose directly to the mag cooler. I want to use it for the summer and so this was my decision. Our water is cool here in Canada and I doubt the machine will overheat.

in the winter I will pull the motor, replace the water channel cover and all the cooling lines that are underneath.

I think i do. The same thing happened to me. It was coming in around the fw boot thingy. There is grease that goes in that thing, mine had old icky grease, the rubber gasket stuff disintegrated, and tore up... Found rubber pieces coming out of drain plugs. There should be resistance when trying to pull that whole thing back, i guess you shouldnt be able to push it back to easy. I could pull the whole thing back, there is a ?? Coupler?? Silver thing that goes in there and rhe boot thing. All of it was replaced.. it looked like maybe you could do it yourself except the whole sealing and torquing thing.... Na! took it in and they fixed it.
