water in storage compartment

2002 rx di. I took it them out for the 1st time today...Lake Erie is about 85* I did not expect that the front compartment (the one were that the fire extingusher is under) would get water in it. The white tub was full of water. Nothing was harmed : ) Should water get in there? If so is there any harm in drilling a couple of small holes in the bottom of the tub?

While the front compartment is not water tight, it should be resistant to water. You should only get a small amount of water.

Check to see if the gasket between the hood and the cover is deformed or has the adhesive come loose. I would only drill a hole through the bin as a last result, as it will only let the water into the hull, not good.
