Water in Rear Electrical Box

I'm new to PWC's I have a 2002 GTX-DI but trying to understand how the rear electrical box was halfway full of water. The cover was correctly mounted and PWC was rolled. I checked the box because of starting issues. Starter is fine and will turn over when bypassing the starting relay. I'm assuming the standing water damaged the relay. I shop vaced the water to remove it. Thanks for the help.

Relay looks nasty.
Make sure you remove and clean all electrical connections in that box.
Also is the rubber lid seal missing? For some reason most of the skis I get the seal is gone. Also a coat of silicone grease on the seal helps.

Thank you for your time and reply. You're correct the lid didn't have a seal. I'm wondering if the water was inside the box when I purchased the jetski. It is very nasty and rusted parts. I've owned it for a month I think it would take longer to do that much damage. Would previous owner have flipped the jetski and not drain the box?

The seal is part number....

Should be about $14 from any dealer.

As noted, do a MAJOR cleaning of the connections within the box. Then put some Dielectric grease on the connections. If you can't find a new seal, contact Minnetonka4me, he will have used boxes or seals that are good.

I usually drill a small hole in the bottom of those that way if water gets i and it will at least it drains right out and the components are not immersed ion water
