Warning Beeps but no warning lights

Hi:

I have recently bought a 2006 Sportster 215. I replaced the battery and now the ear piercing warning beeps just seem to come on randomly. None of the warning lights come on and it runs great. Had it serviced recently and everything was good. The voltage warning light and beep was coming on before I replaced the battery so I know the light works and it seems to have a strong charge. Any thoughts on what the problem is? In the alternative, though not recommended, is there an easy way to stop the beeping sound temporarily?

Is the ear piercing beeps when the key is on and engine off? If so take the key off. That's normal. If the beeps while running, I don't know what to say.

I wonder if you have a short. You may have to take the console off and check the wiring. You should be able to find the speaker in there. Otherwise I would not disable it yet. It could be a legit warning. Does your boat of the digital gauges? Or the individual gauges? You might have a code.

Thanks! I think it is a short, likely a wire was nicked. I used it extensively on Saturday with the beeping which makes me pretty sure there is nothing wrong with the boat itself. The beeping is so erratic and the boat ran fantastic all day.

I think you still might have a voltage issue...OR the problem is fix but the fault code is still present....fault code needs to be removed by dealer or a candoo...if the issue is fixed the computer might erase code after several starts....I'm fighting the same thing with my boat now...
Good luck...

Thanks for the response! Yeah I guess it could be a slight variance in voltage? I was reading all about your woes. What a PITA! So can you tell this new boat owner how this works? Is it like a car where an alternator charges the battery while it is running? Maybe there is an underlying problem there which caused me to need a new battery to begin with? Funny thing is the voltage light was coming on before I replaced the battery (along with the beeping) and now it is not at all. And it fires right up strong - not a weak start like it was pre battery replacement.

Thanks again!

Same concept as a car...you have a stator which creates Ac current which goes to your voltage regulator/rectifier which turns it into dc power which goes to your battery...
Your battery could of been bad...marine batteries take a beating and don't last long....3 years maybe 4 but pushing it unless you get a good gel battery and there good for about 5 years...so they say...
If you keep getting the beeping try to replace the inline 30amp fuse with a new one..
Get a volt meter and test your battery with motor off...should be around 12.6
Crank it and should be low 14's if I'm right...hopefully someone will jump in here and help me out with correct numbers...

But if you have no issue just let it go....have fun...

Hello... I just had the same problem with my boat! 2006 Sea Doo Challenger... It's the voltage regulator/rectifier... It's probably not working... These goes all the time... The magneto sends AV current from the motor to the recitifier/regulator this turns it from AC to DC... Check the voltage on the wired from that unit and into the matters... It sits on top of the airbox in the boat

Test your battery like I was saying uptop...it will tell you if your having a charging issue...if so you need to check the stator and the rectifier...the rectifiers do go bad a lot but most of the time it's just the $5 inline 30amp fuse

There's always voltage present at that beeper when the boat is powered up, The module controls it by switched grounds/code triggers. You're better off throwing your wallet in the street, eating at a sketchy chinese buffet or getting a date off Craigslist versus not having the module checked for active or stored codes just in case.

If all is good there it's a matter of finding what's completing that circuit to the ground side.

Most of us buy the Candoo software and reader. It's worth it. I usually do my own work and it's indispensable on reading codes out of the ECU. So if you buy the software then you have a good excuse to buy seadoo jet skis to justify the cost of candoo.

Hey Mike - thanks for the response. Did your voltage light come on when you had the issue?

Yes it did... Took it too dealership and they tested the regulator and it wasn't working... Replaced it and boom good as new... I just had the same beeping, but that's because I left the battery switch on and the radio was playing... Whoops, installed a dual bank charger and charged the batteries up

I actually just bought this... It'll be here next week... Be a lot better than taking to shop every time a code goes off

My man! It was the fuse - all good now. Thank you very much and thanks to everyone who responded!

Mike Brown, you will not regret that purchase. Well worth it.

Glad you found it was the fuse. Congrats. An easy replacement due to a hard search. It just goes that way! And sometimes it goes the other way!
