Hey,
I really want to get a jet ski or boat for waterskiing (can't mono, yet), kneeboarding and maybe wake boarding (want to try it), I have around £3,000 (from summer jobs, worked hard ;P) which is enough for a fletcher that'll get me up - I'm around 90kg so 200lbs. We have a boat which we use for 2 weeks boating/water skiing every day for 2 weeks a year - like a holiday. But other than those 2 weeks we don't have much time to use it. However, were moving closer to the sea and id like to get my own boat or jet ski as jet skis are something different. If i could find a jet ski for under £5k that I could ski behind that'd be ideal, I'm hoping in a few months they'd be enough jet skis at low prices as its the end of the season so everyone will sell them. I live in the UK by the way. I love sea doos, and am hoping their models are powerful enough for me. The advantages of a jet ski is easier to tow, cheaper to service? something different, and generally less maintenance. Fletchers however are cheaper for what i need and i could have more friends in (I'm only a teenager), also i know a fletcher would definitely get me up. Id use it in the seas mainly but also in lakes. Hope you can help and thanks for reading my essay

ps i won't buy new, its too much and wake 215 is too expensive for my price range?

A 215...is plenty stong enough to get you outa the water. You should be able to find a used one in good shape for less than you want to spend.

I don't know what a Fletcher is...let alone how big or powerfull it is. Maintenance....is maintenance. All the ski's you'll be looking at are 4 strokes.

Now...as for boarding....a wake is kinda a nice thing to have when doing it....a Wake edition doesn't put out a very big one....neither do small boats for that matter.

Thanks for the reply. I found a sea doo wake 155 2005 edition for about £3000, i guess more will come on in a few weeks as it turns to winter. Fletchers are speed boats with varying prop engines, biggest I've seen for sale is 150hp. http://www.fletcher-boats.co.uk/ if your interested, they're very cheap now for 1990 models. Ill look out for cheap 215s, any websites you can suggest? for learning to wake board small wake will do me but ill think about your advice.

A tower is another nice thing to have...especially when getting air is the the goal. The higher outa the water the tow point...the better. Hence the use of a tow pilon on the wake editions.

The Fletcher seems only a lil bigger than a three seater ski. The ability to trim weather inboard or outboard is really gonna help pull you outa the water though...especially when you're looking at 150 ponies or less. You'll also be able to set the trim so you can plow and make a bigger wake once you're up.

If it was me....and skiing/boarding was the activity of choice.....no contest.

Get the boat.
