Votage problem or fuel problem???

I have 14.05 vdc at the bat post while running. Is that ok or do I need to replace the rectifier. 96 GTX, Replaced all the gray fuel lines and cleaned carb filters. Also replaced fuel selector. The ski bogs down at 5500 rpms then picks back up. Could this be due to the rectifier?

Thanks
Robert

rectifier can make it surge... like from 4500 to 7000, and back to 4500 back to 7000, if it's boggin at 5500 and then goin to 7000 and staying sounds like a fuel delivery problem... did you change your selector valve, or just clean it??? and when your doin this fuel line fix it is reccomended that you actually break down the carbs and clean them... because like mine all the fuel inlet ports were also gummed up with the blue gew also, restricting fuel flow... as well as the lil filters, that were solid black on mine.... if you didn't do it i would pull the carbs again and get cleaning... it's cheaper and most likely your problem....just takes a lil time... but no worries... i did both of mine (2 ski's) in about 6hrs, sucks a lil but i think there clean!!!!

Yes, changed the slector. Also checked compression, one was 134 and the other 140. New plugs. When it planes out it runs very smooth. If i crack down on it from idle it just dies. I have to take of easy then when it gets to 5500-6000, it falls on its face.

did you trailer test it first??? if i were you i really would pull the carb's back off and actually clean them, odds are there is crap in your carbs somewhere... it IS possible for a lil to pass those screens after a while!!!

Yes, I did trailer test. Can hold WOT and it doesnt die. But in the water is when it fails. It never actually makes it to 7000rpms, It will do around 5k, anything over it falls off.

I edited the post above yours, in case you didnt see it, I never actually get to 7000 rpm, only 5500 rpm then falls off. So with that in mind you still recomend pulling carbs and do a full clean?

Rave valves and the one in the muffler, also there is a hose connector in that muffler circuit with a orfice that when plugged makes this symptom or not getting that extra zing of rpm.
