First thing is you need to buy an adaptor and bolt it on the top of the carbs after you take off the old flame arrestors. Once you have the adapters bolted on then it just a matter of slipping the new arrestor and use clamps to hold it
If they are Ocean Pro Vortex's there isn't an adapter. The aluminum base bolts directly to the top of the carbs. If it doesn't line up you have the wrong ones.
Also you still have to uses a support bracket to the head or it will crack the intake manifold.
Hey Miki, do you have a pic of what the support bracket looks like and where I could get one? Mine has those flame arrestors on it but I don't think it has the support bracket
Those do not take an adapter and bolt directly to the top of the carbs with the provided shouldered studs. I don't see any provisions for a support bracket so if it were mine I would be concerned with a support bracket. Some of the early ones had a bracket that bolted to the upper part of the carb body then to the head but I don't have any pictures of that. It issue is that the weight of the carbs and the stress of vibration can crack the intake manifolds without a support.
I would contact Matt Braley as he probably has 20 of these in his garage, LOL.
