I am considering upgrading from a 98 Challenger 1800 to something like a Utopia 205 with the two 155HP engines. Does anyone know if the ride and chop handling is better?
Thanks

When in chop, my Utopia can be uncomfortable. The worst is when the wind and chop is coming from the bow, offset about 20 degrees. If you can get the speed up to about 35mph, you can get on top, just experiencing s slight chime walk. Medium chop just sucks, but it's only a 20' boat. We have had friends with a 26FT cabin cruiser on our boat, and they actually commented on how stable it was, in a light to medium chop... One trick, that we have learned, is to put our cooler up front, at the bow, between the seats. The extra weight up front improves the ride, substantially...

I would think the boats have a similar hull design?

But the utopia is longer and heavier...l thus it should ride better in rough stuff vs what you have now

If in really rough stuff then go as big thus heavy as you can.
