She is alive.
Well here is where we are at. The MPEM was dead. It is discontinued through BRP and a used one proved itself to be impossible or near impossible with a lot of dead end leads. So my thought was to use complete electrical boxes out of ski's with 717 engine to get the boat running.
I purchased (2) 1995 Seadoo XP complete electrical boxes from "Minnetonka4me" for $300 shipped. I went with the 95 models for the specific reason of not having to worry about DESS posts and lanyards. They utilize the older plunger style lanyard. THIS WAS THE BEST DECISION EVER!!!!! Going this route made the process so much simpler.
The engines were fired up yesterday and checked out with flying colors with 150 psi on all cylinders. The beauty of the whole thing is that all of the engine wiring with the exception of the RPM gauges will be completely separate from the boat wiring harness. This will make any problems with the electrical system very simple to repair.
I am so STOKED that this worked out. Thanks to everyone on this forum and pwc today for helping me choose to go this route. Even the technician at the dealership could not believe it when I showed up with the electrical boxes, hooked them up and fired the boat off. He said "that is some really good info to know" he could have repaired several boats in the past that ended up getting parted out.
Thanks again everyone. I will be getting the boat back on Thursday so I can start on the Accessory wiring and upholstery. I am now only $1500 into this boat. I'm hoping to stay just under $2000 when it is said and done.
