I broke the piston ring wiping it clean reassembling my 787. I have a spare 787 I can pull parts from. But not sure if any jugs have been bored.
The one that I need the 1 piston ring that Im reassembling says on the top of the piston 81.89.
But the spare engines piston says on top 81.90.

Can I use the ring from a 81.90 piston on a 81.89 piston? Will .01 matter that much?

You can check the "End Gap" on the ring. The end gap varies on aftermarket pistons and rings but I'd shoot for around .020" Personally I never go back with engine parts unless I do the top end and if I do the top end, I'm not using used parts. The top end is the engines performance. Good Luck.
