Hey all...I just picked up (2) 2000 SeaDoo Xp. I got too good a deal to pass up and now I think I know why...
A quick synopsis:
One Doo wouldn't crank over, so I checked the starter connection and sure enough, the POS was loose. tightened and tried again...success, however no fire! pulled the airbox and sparkplugs and tried again when POW...out of the cylinders came rusty water! I've been cranking now on and off for a good 20 mins and can't seem to get all the water out. A quick call to the service tech said to get it started and run the piss out of it for a good 30 sec to 1 min with NO WATER hooked up. My question is this...
1. Is there some magic way to get all the water out? :stupid:
2. Any idea where the water came from?
3. Am I going to need a complete motor teardown and rebuild?

Keep in mind, I'm a helicopter mechanic...these are my first Watercraft. :hurray:
Thanks in advance for your guys' time!!! This site is invaluable to us that are new to PWC!

looks like the same situation, i'm "was' work'n with. Buddy's ski, did same thing. Need to keep hit'n start button, blast it out, let sit a few minutes, so starter done overheat, AND all the while, plug wires, grounded onto post (box in upper rite side). Then when you think alls out, spray carb cleaner on plugs, install them, then see if fires, then repeat process, pull plugs, gorund wires, hit button..then install plugs..etc, you get picture. Took me about 40 minutes I think, and finally cleared out. Once it does start, let it idle, dont hit throttle, may need to play with choke.

Just got back from lake yesterday with it....ran awesome, except for the damn 6000rpm bug.

Souinds like they flushed the ski out without it running and back flowed into the cylinders. Just do the above and lots of lube and you should be good. Make sure to test the compression also.

I figured someone must've gone through this...thanks soooo much! I was prepping for the worst! I'm damn near 40 mins now and, just like you mentioned, its starting to clear up.
Let you know how it goes!

Compression...WILCO! After my battery finishes charging, that is! :(
Thanks!!! :hurray:
NO, with how bad that water color was you really need to remove the rave valves and remove the head, that is way to much rust, if you do not do a tear down you might wish you had when it breaks down out on the water and you have to get towed back, bearings also rust and if your bearings are rusty then you need to replace them, also check if the cylinders are scored.....this is just my 2 cents worth as what I would do with it............it is up to you have you proceed, you can either chance it like that or do a tear down and fix the damged parts in the motor from the water. Bad rust does not just dissapear into thin air........once again just my thought on this

There it is...the voice of reason! Yeah, my logical side says take it in for a teardown (along with the manual and other "experts") and the illogical, fun side of me says hit the lake and give it hell! decisions, decisions...
Isn't the color of the water also attributed to some oil form the injectors?? IDK, not enough experience with them!
Still waiting on the BATT to charge.

ask yourself how long was the water sitting in there? water on the bearings for a couple of days would not be good.

Is there a dipstick for the crankcase oil or is all the oil kept in the aux oil tank?

It's a 2-stroke. There is no crankcase oil.
It's time for a complete rebuild. You can take it apart now or wait until it comes apart by itself.:(
