Twin engines don't sound the same

So I've got two 717's in the boat and this is starting to bother me more than it used to, the the starboard engine is much quieter at idle and smoothing running up to cruise than the port engine. they both run about the same after 5,000 RPM but I'm constantly adjusting the throttle on the port engine until I get up to cruise.

What to look for, I know 90% of the noise is exhaust so maybe loose exhaust bolts but I also think it has something to do with idle and throttle?

I had same issue but never put attention too it as it worked fine.
Going through the carb linkage you might find something got loose or needs tightening.

You had boat a few seasons right?

If you can play with idle of louder one in the water and see if it changes anything.
Its hard to reach in and turn idle adjuster though

My starboard throttle stop also had gotten loose which caused me to always hold

Heres me starting it.
Battery was dying after a few starts.

I also have a similar issue. I have a 97 Speedster and one of my engines has the "tinging" sound like I'm used to a 2-stroke engine sounding like. The other sound more muffled. Both engines run the same though all rpm ranges. I really only notice it at startup for the day after putting it in the water. After that I never notice it the rest of the day. I just thought that one muffler has more water in in then the other.
Any ideas?

different amount of water in muffler sounds very plausible theory as to the different sound and level of water on the transom, since driver is always on right side, that side of boat is more submerged typically and would have a different sounding exhaust, also the amount in the pipe could affect it, I didn't' think of that.

I also have the same thing on my 97 speedster. I'm 95% sure it's just the weight of the driver on the right pushing one exhaust outlet under the water while the other one is above.
