Hi- 98 speedster twinn 800's, My passanger side motor idles at 3k and 3/4 throttle its already at 7500 rpm. Ive already did all the adjusting i could do under the 2 throttle controls.. Is there another way to adjust this cable or maybe put a set screw or stop to this engine so it doesnt Rev past 7k Im scared im going to blow it up it revs 700rpms over the other motor just because there cable or something is messed up, I wana fix this b4 i end up blowing it up from revving to high.. What should i do? pls help thanks!

The drivers side motors revs 7-1 Theres no way the tach is off, at 7-5 that motor is just screaming, its reaving that high because i need liners on that side i think and its kinda out revving itsself, i just need to make it stop revving at 7k, Forsure there is something wrong with the idle tho it idles at over 3k, any set screws or anything on the carb i can do to make it not rev this hard?

rpm problem

sounds like the butterfly valve is sticking, when you throttle off the valve is not closing fully and if you have adjusted the cables with the valve sticking open you will have to re-adjust them back, what you have to do is remove the air filter so you can see the top of the carb, remove the throttle cable then open the butterfly valve and see if it springs back to the closed possition, if it does then replace the throttle cable and open the butterfly valve again and see if it springs back to the closed possition. If it dosent then the cable is worn, if it does spring back then you need to have a look at the jets and a possible strip down and carb re-build.

So start off with the easy bit take off the air filter and check the butterfly valve.

Johnny.
