Hey im trying to fix a 2000 gtx. It started with hesitation and stall when coming off idle. I just bought this machine so I did a carb rebuild checked popoff pressure and accelerator pump. I have the manual. I put it back together and now its not getting fuel. Accelerator pumps air. I am getting back pressure into the tank from the top fitting on the carb. When i open the fuel cap it hisses. Is it supposed to do that. Any ideas or experience before i tear it back apart.

Take the return line off at the carb side that goes to the tank and blow through it with the fuel valve ON then plug it to get pressure in the tank. Fuel should start to flow out the carb side of the return line fitting. This will confirm that you are actually getting fuel from the tank to the carb and prime the system.

The hiss from the tank when removing the cap is a good sign, it indicates the fuel system is holding pressure.

Thanks yea it holds pressure but im not getting any gas maybe one of the check valves inside the pump ill have to take it apart again

Make sure you have no air leaks. Procedure is in manual with a pop off tester. Vent modules need replaced after so much time. Easier to suck air then fuel. Pull choke all the way out when winding the starter. It helps to pull fuel into the system. Shoot some fuel into air box. It can help to jump start the system.

I havent got back to it but i pulled choke fed it some gas in the cylinder it ran and died i have tons of pressure on the intake line it will squirt gas if i take it off and do not depressurize the tank. What is a vent module. It could be the cheap rebuild kit I used. Live and learn i guess. Ive rebuilt plenty of carbs never once had an issue.

These are not normal carbs. Air leaks matter. Age plays a part. Gunk from fuel lines does not help.

Thanks for the hemp So i put the pulse line on the intake thats why i had so much pressure everything else has checked out but im still at square one bogs when accelerating and will die unless its totally wot??? Any ideas

Its seems rich but im afraid of leaning too much im at factory on the low jet 1.5 turns ive tried adjustments without much diff maybe rave valves?

You did check pop off with a tester? Clean it well? New gasket on carb bottom / intake?

Popoff three times each the second time i pulled carbs both at 22. New gaskets.. ive read the carb post.. ive searched all over a few people have had the same issue as me but never posted a fix. Im going to get new plugs pull them and look at piston wash. I think its lean. I made the low jet richer helped but did not fix it. Pulling choke kills it when its bogging.

How about coils had a mid range bog on a motorcycle that was a weak coil that tested fine. Tried fixing the carbs didnt catch it until i swapped coils. Engine temp doesnt seem to matter.

Should i be looking at crank seal?

Might jet and delete accl pump and put flame arrestors. Accl pump checked out and pumps fuel tho.

Should i crack open the high jet?

The low speed check valve on opposite side from fuel pump may have a problem. It will let carb or just one cylinder is loaded up at low speed circuit. It may have a crack or wrinkle to it. If the little rubber stopped/retainer is not seated if may not do it's job. This may be why it dies when you choke it. The carb flow is already rich. Or the carbs are just that old and need replaced. I had to do that with one of my ski's. Carb was just too elderly to fix carb.

Thabks Ive been looking at carb replacement you have any suggestions for my 951 maybe with a bit better then stock performance

Def not coils got new plugs still looks lean scoped the pistons they are black and dry looking... carbs off for the third time i will try to lower the popoff. I have read the the mag high jet shud be 0 and the pto 1/4 is that true?

based on http://www.seadoosource.com/carbreference.html it says 0 for a 2000 gtx. But I know my 98 gtx limited it is 0 and 1/4. Hopefully someone else can confirm. I'm not sure where else to find that info.

Sometimes you just can't get rebuilt carbs to work. The check valves can be a problem. The low speed lets it load up on fuel if it is not right.
