Ok I have a thread going buts way down the road so Ill refresh. My question for now does the throttle adjustment screw have a nut on the botton for locking it in place. I have been told it does not. I have one on my ski and again I dont have any real history on the ski. It looks like it ought to be there. Was the adjust screw simply held in by friction. Why the ? Im resetting the TPS and if the nut is in the way of full throttle close this might be on of my issue. Image form 03 manual

Surely somebody can confirm this. Im pretty confident that the nut is not suppose to be there but would a second opinion anybody?

Found this further down the line. Very interesting.
Turn the idle set screw until a reading of 6.7% is recorded in the TPS gauge. Lock the lock nut on the idle screw and be sure the reading has not changed. If so readjust the idle screw and lock nut. Start the unit and verify the unit idles properly and the throttle is working correctly.

I think I have the wrong nut. Images on ebay show the nut maybe 3mm thick where mine looks like 5 or simply what you would pick up and the hardware store. This is exciting.

Ok one problem figured out. The nut on my idle adjust was wrong. Had standard thickness if you will. Here a pic from online. I manged to get what I needed from my neighbor whos is very organized. So if you have a TPS that is adjustable [not all are] then the narrow nut allows the bell crank to close completely. With that being said I have seen alot of TPS problems and complaints. Has somebody messed with you ski.

Wow,,,I was taught that you cannot touch that throttle adjuster, that the tps has to be done with a programmer.

The point is... the throttle has to close completely before resetting the TPS. You are simply backing out the idle adjustment and allowing the butterfly to make contact with the throttle body bore. That gives the TPS what it needs. After you reset the TPS... just manually adjust the idle to around 3k RPM. I like 2800 better but the water idle is most important.

Just remove the nut that is causing the contact and you're good. Some of these I have seen have a nut... some don't. Most are difficult to move so not having the nut isn't an issue. :) I've had to drill out two so far. :) I'm near salt water so... that's an issue for me. I'm all about putting all the right stuff where it goes so I make it right.

Side note... a few times I replaced a computer I didn't reset the throttle position sensor... and had no issues at all. That isn't optimum but we often think the TPS is an issue and it isn't I'd look harder at the Air Pressure sensor if I had a problem Good Luck man !! Keep it simple
