Ok so ive had this 2008 rxp seadoo for 3 weeks or so. I never knew, or asked anyone what VTS button was for. I just figured it was a button to cycle through mph/kmph/hours etc. lol.

So today i was letting my buddy rip on my seadoo and he asked what the VTS was and i said, i have no idea. After he came back he told me he pressed it and it was the trim adjustment!

wow what a noob i am.

anyhow, to the point, tommorow, I am supposed to be bringing my boat to the mechanic because the acceleration was gutless the past week and I only figured it was a wear ring ruined.

Now im starting to think the whole problem was the VTS set wrong. (maybe my gf changed it when she rode it last week)

Last week The ski went from amazing performance to all of a sudden horrible. After I pulled the ski outta the water when she said it was broken, i had to chisel out rocks from the impellar, and i seen alot of white wax flaking off.

SO how do i know if the VTS is set right? I went all the way up and all the way down. Why i thought it was the wear ring was because i had so much white wash and the acceleration was horrible.

The ski now screams when i pin the throttle, I used to launch out of the water on full throttle from a stand still with a very low tone acceleration. Now its a louder high pitch struggling sound. And the performance sucks.. I still get 70mph but the acceleration and the hair pin turns are brutal. Is this a VTS setting issue or a wear ring or both?

god im a noob lol

I tried doing circles with the throttle pinned, and adjusting the VTS, but still found it wasnt as good as it was when i bought the thing. Im lost

The trim just helps planing out, jumping, etc. If you had to pick out rocks I'm sure the wear ring needs replaced. You say its revving up just not accelerating fast. Thats called cavitation. Hope this helps.

It does help thanks, ya i was thinking the past week that i was "cavitating" but today when i learned about the VTS i was hoping it was just that and no wear ring fix. So i did notice that while ive been riding since the cavitating that the nose of the boat is way up in the air and it takes quite a while to plane out. Does this mean the VTS is set too high?

where should it be for normal use?
basically what different settings are used for different applications, ie jumps/speed/burnouts/etc

And can i set it when the seadoo power is off or do i have to play with it while im mobile in the water

ON my 95 xp it doesnt work so I manually set it a little above center. Its great there for messing around. Basically if the nozzle is pointed down it will push the jet ski nose down and if the nozzle is pointed up the nose will go up. Right in the middle is where I would put it if I were you and then play with it once you get the wear ring replaced and see what each position does in glass water or choppy water.
