Top End Rebuild

I am a newbie and have what some might call a 'dumb' question. My engine (1995 GTX) is a 657x and I am looking at the different kits on ebay. In the manual I only see 657 parts and not 657 x. Are the top end kits (010-816-10) for the 657 the same for the 657x? Where can I find the OEM part number for a top end rebuild for the 657x?

They're not the same. The X had a larger wrist pin bearing.

Also can I buy the kit and then just buy the right wrist pin bearing?

Are you 100% certain the engine is a 657X? I believe the bottom end on the 657X has dual pulse nipples for the fuel pump or it's on the PTO and not the MAG.

Either way, I think just the wrist pin bearing is different. I can't find the fiche on the X engine. I have a million things running through my head right now and can't seem to concentrate on one of them.


Here is some info which would confirm the pistons and wrist pins are the same between both. The X uses the 717/720 wristpin bearing. Pretty straight forward.
