Last year running dirty carbs I used to get up to 6900 rpm no problem on my 951 and could bury my speedo at 64 on calm water. I bought a brand new set of carbs and tuned them per the directions on the forum. Not running lean at all. Starts up nice and everything, no more idling problems like before.

Now I can barely get up over 6800 and 58mph and I feel like it doesn't pull as hard anymore on the top end. Everything else on the doo is the same. I even serviced the pump oil so it's not that.

Any ideas? Is it running too rich?

I think something else is going on it's had to believe that you would loose 6mph with just 100rpm difference.

I found that it will hit 6900 from a cold start but not so much when it's been running a while. Normal I guess. I hit close to 60 on the speedo. Maybe it's the wear ring. I put the delrin one in last year. Thanks lou
