I searched some and found lots of info but no definitive info for this exact application. I'm probably buying a boat that's 4.5 hrs away if everything checks out. The trailer was never equipped with a spare so I want to show up prepared. Would ST175/80R13 be the right tire size on a rim with 5 on 4.5 bolt pattern be correct?

I might get lucky and that matches my dad's or a friend's trailer tire size that I can borrow. I'd rather not buy one unless it's "off the shelf" and returnable to avoid becoming overcommitted to the purchase of the boat if it's not quite as advertised.

Thanks,

Jeff

The problem is... Trailers are regional. Only the very large boats were shipped with a trailer. (the 20' and 22' models) The smaller boats would get specific trailers... but they could be Cary-on, Karavan, or Shorelander.

My Islandia uses the 175/80r-13 tires... but it's a 2 axle trailer. BUT... my old sportster had 12" tires. (5.30-12)

The best thing to do, is to contact the seller, and just ask.

I thought that might be the case given the fairly non-custom and varied look of the trailers I've seen in pictures. Is a 5 on 4.5 bolt pattern a pretty solid bet? I doubt the seller will be able to tell me the bolt pattern. Almost every light duty trailer I've ever dealt with has been 5 on 4.5 though.

YEs.... 5x4.5 on the bolt pattern will be correct. That's been the pattern I've seen on all the seadoo trailers I've played with.

Picked up 2 pre-mounted 5.30-12 tires on 5 lug white wheels at Wal Mart. Load range C for $83 each with tax and environmental fee. If we make it back to town without issue I'll return the second one. The trailer has original tires on them (i.e. 9 years old) but they've been indoors the whole time. I got two spares to be safe.

Make sure you get the right load range. Walmart rims and tires are the low end of range. I found that they are load range B for 5.30 / 12. My trailer needs load range C for 5.30 / 12. It will pop when it heats up because the tire is overloaded!

The ones from Walmart were C but I ended up returning them (unused) and getting a better brand of D load range tires for etrailer for a couple of bucks cheaper each.
