Took the boat out this weekend and filled her up (40 gallons), and headed to the lake.. Wakeboard for about 4 hours and called it a day headed back to the lake house.. I checked all my fluids and was already down to 1/2 a tank.. Then cruised around Sunday for about 2 hrs and my low gas beep came on..
Whats the average consumption on the merc v6?
Should I just get use to tossing 40 gallons in per weekend?
(2.45 a gallon here in Dallas)

Other then being thirst little v6, I am loving this boat..

Six hours of constant running should be about right, depending on throttle settings and whether you or doing water sports, or just cruising around.

Sweet....
Just got in from some awesome boarding today and we added 200lbs of center ballast (ski locker) and 4 buddies (180lb average weight). We put one guy in the spotters seat with newly installed handles to hold on, the passenger mid chair and driver and I was very pleased with the wake at 60ft behind the boat..I think with the tower and 350lbs of center ballast and 65-70 feet will be meaty!
This boat keeps getting better and better...

On a side note, with this much wake boarding behind the boat, do I need to do anything more other then routine checkups on the engine.. Shes running great, 55-60mph full boat load!

Because you are running it fairly hard, change the stator and gear oil every fifty hours or so. Other than that you should be good to go. Just keep an eye on the basics, belt, hose clamps, oil level, and flush it on the hose every few weekends.

Gas will be higher but not by last summer's price point

Based on the conditions that led to last year's record gas prices, the gas prices won't be impacted to that level by those same condition. It was a 'perfect storm' of factors that included mostly speculators and increased demand from other countries.

This year saw the price dip toward the $2 mark but everyone still expected it to be in the mid to high $2 range. However, OPEC has reduced production when the price had reduced to a point that 'they' seem not acceptable.

I know that probably don't mean much at the pump...but don't think of the $2 comparison. Compare it to $4+ per gallon!! It could be much worse.

that is very true. i guess gas could be much more than it is. hopefully we have seen the bulk rise of gas prices if not i guess a little overtime each week will be in order..
