The Ski would bog down really bad, Both on trailer and in the water.. So I got a bill for around six hundres and thrity bucks.. Carbs rebuilt. When I put it back in the water it ran better but still wasnt the best. So the next weekend back out on the water we go with a new tank of gas.. It was even worse.. So after one hour of riding I took it to the dealer, And he added something to the gas, and new plugs. After 25 mins. of surging the ski ran great for a few days !!! Eventually the ski has no mid range or top speed. Dropped from 67 to mid 50s.. So I took it to a guy that does the work on the side. He said it doesnt look like they did any carb rebuilding. I got this work done in 4/27/09. Is there a way to really tell by looking at the old carb parts? To see if they reused or bought new ?

For that amount of money the dealer should make it run like a top. I'd bring it back and tell him you want it to run like it should...now make it, do it. You paid for it to run right.

now you can see the whole point of this forum its not about wasteing money at the dealers !but loseing money at the stealers!
still there are some good dealerships around ,but chances are you live a 1000 miles away from them!
moral of the story =next time use the forum and do it yourself.

ok , well still no answers.. LOL, im not mechinally inclined. But I do know the inside and out of a computer :) So anyways. Is there a way to tell, if the carbs have been rebuilt ? Im thinking with old gaskets theyd be a little dry rotted and have some abrasions on them .. Am I heading into the right direction. The Ski is already apart and someone else is doing the job !! Because I wana take the old gaskets and filters back to the dealer and ask why they are so fowled already.. But Want to know what im talking about.. I will post pics This weekend of the old parts.

well at 90 bucks and hour.. for 5 hours. im sure one hour to change the buzzer. so lets say 4 hours Labor !!! 360 just for labor !!! They also had to take the Fuel switch off and clean it.. This is a 99 XP Lim.. The seat doesnt just come off..

you should be able to tell if carbs have new parts and new gaskets. However, even if they have been rebuilt, if you still have those grey Tempo fuel lines, they will rot and plug everything up again. Even if the lines were replaced, there is still a lot of gunk in the system, including the fuel selector valve and fuel tank. Its a very common issue.

Both of my skis had the same problem. It was not until I replaced all the fuel lines, replaced fuel selector valve, rebuild carbs and added an in-line fuel filter just before the carbs to catch the remaining debris did they run correctly. No problems sense.
