Temperature sensor question

Had been running well all day then it wouldn't start, just kept getting one long beep when hitting the start button. I knew this was the overheat sensor, so I shut it down for the night, but the next morning the same thing happened - one long beep with no start.

Advanced diagnostic test ok - it tries to start on first press of start button, then one long beep.

I checked the 5 fuses in the MPEM and the one by the solenoid and they are are good.

I read another thread on how to boil the temp sensor, but I haven't tried that yet.

I disconnected the temp sensor and I still get the one long beep. So my questions are

1) Is it supposed to have one long beep if the temp sensor is disconnected, or should the ski start?

2) If the answer to #1 is that the ski should start (which would indicate the problem is not the sensor), where should I look for the cause of the problem?
