Swapping 1997 GTS 720 Single Carb to Dual Carb. Good, Bad, or Just Stupid?

I have a '97 GTS with the 720 single carb engine. I also have a set of dual carbs from a '96 GSX 787 engine. Can I put these carbs on the GTS, if I get a twin carb manifold? Will they work, as from what I can tell, 720s had BN38s and the 787s have BN 40s?
Is this just a foolish idea, or can I maybe realize a performance increase?

No that would be too much for a stock 717. It would also require different throttle and choke cables. A single carb 717 is rated the same 85 HP as the twin carb version.

However, Word is that if you have an accelerator pump, disable it and install an 80 pilot and 80 gram spring. Same overall performance as the dual carbed version and better pickup. So I've been told.

Especially on a GTS a single carb is easier and cheaper to maintain and as Matt said still rated at the same 85HP.

I have a dual carb intake if you want to entertain idea

Looks like I should just leave well enough alone. The GTS runs really good, and my luck, the dual carbs would probably screw it up.
Guess I will just sell the carb set.

If it is running great don't mess with it. You probably wouldn't notice any performance increase with the duals.
