Sunk my 97 xp 3 days ago long story short engine would not turn over i have recently found out from a member that my engine is full of water he was right, tryd fliping the ski on the side to drain the water from the botom end all water came out fliped back over but could never seem to get the white foam to stop coming into the top end. I removed the top end of the moter / exaust to find the botom end with a light coat of surface rust nothing major, the rust wipes off with my hand I have since removed the block from the ski I have removed all white foam and water from botom end by fliping the block completly upside down and have filed the botom end with 2 stroke oil to hopfuly keep the botom end from rusting and seizing up

continuing on for some reason ithought it would be a sweet idea to pull the pistons off of the rods and have found out that thers a shit load of little bearing rod things that have falen out so i now have the piston and these little tiny peices

questions

The questions

-Am i doing the right thing by filling the botom end with oil ?

- these little needle shaped peices that i have from between the piston and the rod is there any where that i can purchase these things ? is it possible to re install these things ?

- when i re install the oil system is it required to prime the system ?

- when i reasemble to top end to the botom end how much oil should i have in the botom end if any ? is there a set amount like in a normal truck engine ?

thanks alot Ryan

YIKES...sounds like the needle bearings fell out! I always thought they were held together by a race (similiar to some ball bearings)
A phone call to the local shop may be in your future. LOL
Good luck!

Holy man. Sounds like your committed now. I sunk mine 2 days ago... Pulled the plugs and cranked it till ALL the water was out, Couple minutes total. Put the plugs back in and got it running. Took a few minutes and lots of priming for lubrication tho...
