had the ski out and went aprox 10 miles to grab food at a local on water hooters then came back to the beach when i turned it off. the ski would not start back up, my fuel gauge said E but i had about 1/4 tank of gas, i figuered my reserve was not working. i got it to start and went about 15ft and it died again. now i filled it up with fresh gas, and just re built the driveshaft and new wear ring and it still wont start, i put in new plugs and tested them to find i had no spark and then a slight spark for about a second then no spark again, put the old plugs back infor no spark at all.

checked: fuses on computer, one 15 was blown and i replaced it,however i believe it was one of the spares.

my options: coil, magneto, or computer? i heard somehwhere there was a test that you counted the beeps for a self diagnostic???

any other thoughts? i work the next 9 days straight so im trying to do as much research so i know what the heck im doing when i actually get to work on it again. thanks for any info that may help or explanation why it would just all of a sudden die out on the water like that...

It's hard to say without starting some tests. The CDI, or coil can be bad. You could have spark wires that are burnt inside... or you could have lost a ground somewhere.

If you push your start/stop button 5 times... then put your lanyard on... and push it one more time... it will go into advanced diagnostics. Count the beeps... and let us know what you get. BUT... if you put your lanyard on, and it will crank like normal... then that's not going to tell you anything. If you get your normal 2 beeps... then the computer thinks everything is OK.

i checked and the fuse are good, got a meter today and have good grounds, however the white wire to the coil has no power with key on and only shows a couple small jumping volts when cranking over. shouldn't there be good power to the coil when cranking? im getting maybe 3v, the battery has a solid 12v. im now leaning into the magneto or computer?
