Hello all,

I am going ahead and cleaning the carbs on my 93 XP for some performance issues that I am experiencing as well as my own peace of mind.

I am stuck on how to get the carbs off. I have read the shop manual and searched posts. Can someone instruct me if i am doing this right? I circled the two bolts i think that it might be. The black hex head bolts seem extremely tricky to get off. Is it the white allen head bolts?

thanks!

On that ski... you can get the flange bolts off... but you need stubby wrenches. So... normally guys will take of the entire manifold, and than pull the carbs sitting at a work bench. But, as I recall... you need a stubby wrench to get one of the bottom manifold bolts off too.

The manifold bolts are the white Allen head bolts?

no the manifold bolts are the hex shaped bolts that you can see in your pics...i think there are four of them....If i remember correctly they are a 13mm .......what doc means about the stubby wrench is that on the bottom of the manifold there is not much room to work so you will need a shorter wrench...

Remove airbox, cables linkage bracket from carbs, fuel lines, and the four RV cover bolts, and oil injection supply line. Remove as a unit, then dis-assemble. You will need your ski's Shop Manual for reference. Clearance test the RV cover, Oil flow test the oil injection pump, Replace two oil lines to the cylinder RV spigots, and oil filter. Read the STICKY on carb adj and watch the videos. The lower right bolt on the RV cover is hardest to get to, so do that one first. Do not allow RV to slide off when you remove the cover & put a zip tie on the splined shaft, or you will be re-timing the RV plate. All the torque spec on your machine is in your Pictoralized Shop Manual.

Thanks for all the help so far. I have the carbs off now, but would like to see if i can proceed with putting them back together. Here is a couple pictures of one of the carbs. However, the piece that is circled in red, is not in the other carb. Is this normal? Did i go too far in tearing them down?

Looking at these pictures does anyone have any suggestions for me on if i can proceed? Should i clean them up more?

Here are the direct links if that helps to view them
