Strong Smell of Gas

Hi,

I own a GTX 1996. When I lift the seat up, there's a strong smell of gas where the engine is. Visually, no gas can be seen inside the compartment. Where, and what should I start checking in order to eliminate the gas smell??

It may be hard to see just looking around in the hull, but press your finger under all the fittings on the carbs and see if it gets wet. Also run your finger under the other fittings around the fuel selector, make sue all the vent lines and everything else is connected fine.

Make sure the neck on your fuel tank is not cracked. They like to crack at the fuel pick up and where the hose for refueling is. Also check to make sure the fuel lines are still healthy and properly secured
