So, Ive done a little searching on the forum. I definately have the aluminum oxide issue. but havnt seen anybody with my issue. It Started with pulling the carbs for clean and rebuild. Bolts seized in the carb bolt bores and stripped allen heads. Got past that, went to remove intake manifold to remove oil pump, another stripped out allen bolt. because of that, i pulled the rv cover and...SNAP. top mag side bolt snapped. So I got past that and got all broken bolts or bolts with stripped heads out and re-tapped all threads and cleaned all gasket and mating surfaces. Went to go back together today and the threads ripped out of the top mag side rv mount(the one that had the broken bolt in the mount). SO...now what? I dont think I can heli coil the hole because I dont think theres enough metal on the ear to drill big enough for the coil. Thru bolt it? the nut would have to be grinded to probably half the thickness to fit between the mounting ear and the cylinder. Has anyone had to fix this problem before? The motor is healthy at 150PSI per cylinder. Really dont want to have to get another crank case assembly to correct this. Not to mention Im sure replacing that would open a huge can of worms.
GRRRRR. Ive been maintaining calmness the whole time with all these problems as I really like the ski a lot but man after this happened I just had a wave of fear and anger come over me. Ive gotten the other 3 in and tightened. The one that stripped on me will tighten a little to a snug but thats all. Is this bolt completely necessary as long as I keep and eye on it?
Please Help! Thanks
