Strange humming sound...

Got a strange humming sound just after start... all sounded fine prior to connecting the hose.. normal? Not normal? No clue where to start. Water flows from everywhere it should.. impeller is spinning..
Sound starts to dissipate when the water is flushed from the system... is my jut pump kaput?

It might just be the carbon driveshaft seal vibrating because it’s dry, I’ve seen that before.

Your idle sounds too high to me out of the water too.

It was still slightly cold...shut it down right after this started... idle came down to about 1500ish ... I know she hasn't run in years.. should the drive seal be doing that? How concerned should I be?

How much play should the drive ring have? All 3 of my 97s have about the same amount of play... I did restart the ski and at idle the ring bounces quite a bit... goose it a tad and the movement of the ring looks a bit more erratic

Pretty normal, check it in the water.

I would be installing new genuine Mikuni carb kits if it had been sitting.

Carb kit is coming in the near future... wanna get the fuel lines changed first...tempo gray...

I'll toss some water on the carbon next time I run it on the hose... still a few fixes away from dunking this one...
