Ok I am not sure if I am making progress or falling behind. As I said before my 1996 Challenger boat still will not start. Here is what I have tried so far remember I just picked up the boat used 3 days ago. The guy I bought it from said he just put in a new started and battery. He also said he had it running after the install. When I got it home it would not start. The battery is fine and you can hear the starter engage and sometimes rolls the engine once but it will not start. I took the starter out, cleaned up the brushes and reinstalled it. Nothing. I replaced all the wires coming from the battery. I also see that I have a fuse in the electrical box that keeps blowing. Its the 15A charging system fuse. I try to replace it and as soon as I plug it in it blows. I have looked for a bad ground and have replaces every wire that even looked like it was bad. I had the starter tested and its fine. Today I took out the plugs. They looked good. While they were out I tried to crank the engine. It cranked real fast. (spraying gas all over my truck) I reinstalled the plugs and now it cranks great just will not start. I have to admit when I was trying to start it I did use my charger on the boost setting. Have I fried anything? What can I try to test for spark. This thing is making me nuts. I am starting to like dry land more and more. Help

You don't need to start a new thread for every post you make on the same subject. You can continue your existing threads....

emtmike, did you get this going yet? Not sure what other thread/post are out there for you on this. when you say charging system fuse, is this the one fuse in the box that is not on the mpem itself? Have you checked for spark?

Yet thats the fuse and no I dont think I have spark but I am not quiet sure how to check for spark. Any help wouls be gerat. Thanks MIKE

wiring diagram shows the fuse in line from solenoid to fuse block under the hood is a 20. Do not use 20 until you verify this though. I dont want to tell you something and then it cooks :) The other three fuses are on the mpem itself. Please verify the fuse for me. it should connect directly to the solenoid with a red wire. This fuse supplys juice to 4 other fuses under the hood (two 3 amp a 10 amp and a 7.5 amp). This should not prevent starting though.

To check for spark pull the plug and turn it over with wire on glug and grounded. look for the blue spark in the electroid. You can also get tester for this to get you a number, check for weak coil and the likes, but if it sparks it should at least start.
