So I wanted to add a stereo system in my 96 GSX from the moment I bought it and it took a lot of thinking to make it work. I finnally finished my system and this is how it works.

I decided a marine deck would be the most convenient because then I can plug my ipod into it or use CDs so i went with a marine deck. It was hard to find a place to mount it so i decided to do it vertically in the storage bin area. I basically made a drop down tray that holds the deck and had room to mount 1 5.5 inch speaker.

I started by making a lip to hold the box into the bin area. Plexy Glass was what I decided to use and I did that by making a ring that was the same shape as the bin hole except bigger.

I then built the panel to mount the deck and speaker in.

Then I made the box that goes inbetween the plexy glass lip and the panel. I also made a replica of the panel out of white vinal to make it look good and clean. I had to make the sides of the box at an angle in order to make the deck sit level. (The bin area is sloped)The CD player doesnt play CDs well when the CD is inverted.

After all the building was done I spray Painted everything white and bolted it all together and sanded some edges to make it fit smoothly in the bin area. Then I did the wiring for the speakers and I mounted a smaller 12v battery in the nose of the ski for power.

The speakers were those sonic sound pads and i mounted those on each side under the gas and oil thingys. They basically work by turning any hard surface into a speaker so it worked out great. I didnt have to cut big holes in my ski and they still put out enough sound.

Here is the final product!

Feel Free to ask any questions. The only changes I am going to make to it is to either get a better deck or add a amplifier for more power. The deck I used was a piece of crap.

I know this reply is over a month after the orignal post, but do you have any problems with charging the ski after putting that radio in it? I know that the stator setup in these seadoos is only built so supply enough power to keep the minimal electronics in the ski running and to charge the battery; I didnt know if it would affect the entire charging system. Just curious...

i mounted a separate battery in the nose of my ski. I ran wires from that to my other battery to keep the charge on it. It doesnt run out of power ever and if it ever does, its easy to hook up a charger.
