Steering Cable Travel

Hi, please help. Thanks in advance. For a 96 challenger I ordered a steering cable form Control Cables in California. Nice guys. Vic was very helpful. issue is that the replacement cable has a little over 3" of travel. it looks to me that the steering nozzle on the back of the pump travels about 4.5" stop to stop. Not sure if this will be a problem but it seems to me that it will limit performance and possibly safety should a sharp turn be neeeded to avoid something. Thanks again for all ideas on how to solve this.

if your cable was frozen, showing the 4.5in travel, then your wheel wasnt strate. I've gotten few cables from them, alo0ng with b.s.-in with him about other customers, and he never mentioned anything about "travel" problems...:cheers:

My cable was seized so i'm not sure what the original cables travel was. it seems the nozzle has almost 4.5" of travel from one side then all the way to the other side without the cable attached. Is the 3" travel of the replacement cable enough? Or would/should a factory cable travel further allowing the nozzle to hit or almost travel the full range? is it important that the nozzle travel to it stops on the housing? how will the boat steer with 3" of cable travel? Thanks for ur help.

install it, jam the fittings on the hull, but dont silicone anything up, and then center the wheel and attach the cable to give equal throw, and see whatcha get. think you'll be ok, though.

I have 1996 seadoo challenger and I need some help with building a steering cable.
I went to this site http://www.midwestcontrol.com/linkage/index.php so far I know the 10/32 the cable is 108 inches or nine foot but I don't know what the push pull is. IS it 2",4" or larger? If anyone could please help me with this would be really appreciated and this may help others for building seadoo cables.
