starting problem on challenger

hi everyone

I am faced with a weird problem..
I have a 98 challenger, twin 800's. I took it out of storage, 1 motor starts and runs like a champ, the second wants to turn over but doesn't and then there's a long beep. they were both rebuilt last year (not by me).

I changed the starter, same result
I cranked the engine without the spark plugs, and it turns over nicely.
I check voltage on the battery, sharp drop when cranking. I had the battery checked, it's ok.
I switched the electric boxes, no change
I removed the impeller , no change
I recharged the battery, engine turned over 2-3 times, then back to square 1. the sound of the engine was as if it wasn't turning properly, as if one half was turning better than the other half (by ear, maybe i'm wrong). now it sounds to me as if it's not even trying to crank anymore, there's just a click.

weird things:
sometimes when I plug in the key the beeps are very loud, some other times they are faint even though the battery is strong. cannot associate it with anything, just happens randomly.

I ran out if ideas of things that i can do to get it running..
anybody have any suggestions?
anything is greately appreciated.

thanks

p.s. sorry that my 1st post is a cry for help..

Beeper-sounds like its going bad, not uncommon. 12 bucks at radio shack(its under your drivers console.)
Starter issue-did you get an aftermarket starter? Common opinion here is they are garbage.
Try turing the driveshaft over by hand. Is it more difficult than the other engine?

Also post in the boat section instead of pwc, you ll get more replies.:)

thanks kcr!

I posted in the wrong section. if anyone can delete this thread feel free to do so.

my problem turned out to be the oil check valve, and oil had accumulated in the cylinder over the winter. pumped the oil out and everything was fine after. still need to change that valve..

valve? Like to know, what there talk'n about. Only way, I see oil filling your cylinder/s, is a bad RV seal, and/or bad inner seals. Only "check valve" i no, is the one on top of resivoir bottle, on other side of sensor unit.
