Starting boat without pump

So im replaying the PTO this weekend, Is it safe to fire the boat up after the PTO is in? I want to fire it up and make sure it starts up fine before i install the pump and everything.

Yes. Just don't put the driveshaft in.

Well i hoped to start her up last night, the batter is dead as a door nail...
let it charge on the charger for about 24 hours... still only 10% even with a jumpbox on the battery could only get enough juice for like 1.5 cranks.

guess a new battery is gonna have to be purchased.
