starting after top end rebuild

I have read about the break in period of idle to 20% and cycle and shutdown and so on...
what I'm wondering is after checking my compression, and assuming its good, should I take directly to the lake or am I able to start on the trailer?

I just want to make sure that a short start isn't going to hurt it by not letting lots of oil circulate

Start it on the trailer and hook hose up so you can make sure theres no leaks then shut off then if its good bring to lake or where ever and do break in.
