start button cuts out on my 98 gsxl

Anybody run across this problem ?? When I hit the start button it trys to start the ski for about a second, then nothing. I release my finger and repress the button and it does the samething again. I have replaced the button with no change. What do I look for next ?? Thanks in advance...

Bridge the posts on the starter solenoid with a screwdriver while the lanyard is on and see if it starts(caution, might make a few sparks)

thanks snikwad, After I posted the thread I got the ski started. I kept using the push and release method with the starter button until it was running. But it isn't right and I don't want to be out on the water and need to start it and it totally fails.

I've had this happen to me on a 98(red &purple) GSX before but I never solved the problem. I replaced everything and it still did it. I tried to outsmart the wiring to get a constant 12v on the yellow/red wire going into the solenoid but nope.
