My 98 spx recently blew up completely, I was going to rebuild but I put another used 787 in from a 97 GTX I recently got running. The guy that sold me the GTX said he’s never seen it run and it was last registered in 07 or at least that’s what the sticker says. I ended up getting it running and there was a lot of nasty oil and water in the bottom end, I cleaned it all out to the best of my ability and I hose tested and water tested it and it was good. Put the motor on my spx was starting and running good, still does but now it runs away like crazy after about 30 seconds of it running (on the hose). A little background info tho is that when I was running it the rear side cylinder was cold compared to the front so I changed the plug in that cylinder and that’s when it started to run away. I pulled the key and pressed the button and she didn’t want to stop. I thought it would grenade but we ended up getting it by pushing the throttle wide open. Carbs do not need to be rebuilt as they are new oem mikunis from last year. Any ideas?
