Speedster/Sporster years

Quick question, what years were there major redesigns and which years are the best to get.

I'm looking at a 1996 or 1997 or 1998. I noticed the 98 has different engines.

95 speedster 657 engines 80hpx2
96-97 has 720 engines 85hpx2
98 has 787 engines 110hpx2

the 99 speedster sk has 720 engines


i think the 96 had dual carbs, I know my 97 has single carbs.

95-97 are pretty much the same hull. 97 has the rear "keeper" seat. these are 14.5ft

98-99 have real captains seats in the front., think these are 16ft

I'm sure if you google the different years, you can find all the details

If my lake didnt have a hp restriction, I would have gone for a 98 instead of my 97. I like the layout of the 98

This is correct. 95-97 are pretty much the same. 98 and up made the speedster 16.5 ft. It has 4 individual seats, plus 1 in the bow. with the front 2 being able to rotate.
