Im interested in buying a used Speedster and want the twin engined version not the mercruiser.
We wanted it for Sea use hence the twin engine. But can one engine still run on these when the other fails? And how do you isolate the non running engine from the other?

Or is it not possible.

Hey Dave, how is everything going? If you have a problem with on engine you will need to block off the cooling line so it won't force water into the non running engine, at speeds above 15 mph. You shouldn't just want to run on only 1 engine just because... But in an emergency you could use a clamp or vise grips to block off the cooling line at the jet pump inside the Hull near the top of the jet pump. The engine relies on the exhaust of the running engine to keep the water out of the exhaust manifold. No matter 2 stroke or the new 4-tec engines...you still need to pinch off the cooling line of the non running engine.

Cheers

Cheers Karl. Doing fine mate. Hey nice post count you have there.

I think the twin engine is the best option In the North Sea. So Im trying to trade the Wifes ski in on one. I sort of promised myself I'd have one. LoL. She aint too happy.:reddevil:
Plus im running out of space for mor toys.
Now looking for shipping containers to lock stuff up, no room at home now.

Twin engine speedster

I have a twin Speedster and Love it, and yes you can run one engine in an emergency. Have to clamp off the hose that Karl is talking about though. I put up a diagram to try to explain which hose to clamp.

Also is a neat pic of the North Sea i took in 2005 from the Britrail in route to Scotland.
