I'm a jet boat newbie and just fixed up a 1995 Speedster with the twin 657 engines as a project boat. First voyage out I was impressed with how snappy it was and how it only took a few seconds to get up on plane and get over 45 mph on the speedo in wavy conditions. While playing around with it checking both motors, we tried shutting off each engine seperately and playing around trying to run it with only one at a time. It wouldn't get up on plane with either engine by itself. We also tried shutting off one engine while up on plane and we couldn't keep it up with just one engine. Since I'm new to these I'm curious if this sounds normal or not. I see boats on ebay with only one of these engines so it makes me wonder if something is wrong with mine or is there something different on the one engine models that makes them get up on plane with only one engine? Thanks.
