spark arrester, air box??? run with out?

would it hurt to run just the spark arrester and no air box?
or remove spark arrester and leave air box and lid on?

also if i put in a universal fuel filter after the factory fuel filter,before the carb would that block to much volume?

just cleaned carbs,internal filters, and replaced all lines execpt the vent ones for now, taking out tommorow to check it out thanks for your help on getting my machine on the water!

Putting an inline fuel filter is a good idea.

Running without either the air box or the flame arrester is a BAD idea. Both work very well stock and running without them would require re-jetting the carbs. Leave it stock. I have a 96XP runs very well stock.

i wouldn't think you need to re-jet much, just adjust your pop-off pressure. the filter itself is no where near as free flowing as 2 pod flame arrestors. i'm going to try the same thing, just remove the air box and leave the stock arrestor and see what happens. since the manifold pressure will probably be different this is where pop-off adjustment may be necessary.
