Something Spinning but no crank.

So a few times between yesterday and today, i'd go to start my sportster and it sounds like something is just spinning, and the engine isnt sounding like its turning over.

If i let off the start button and hit it again, it would fire right up.

Thoughts?

Whats causes a starter to go bad? How hard is it to replace the starter?
