So no bench test for rectifier? Visual check is pretty useless?

So last year I bought a rectifier from minnetonka in case that was the issue, and never replaced it. Figured I might as well replace it since I have it. I haven't yet been able to test it after pulling the carbs and going through them again. The more I think about it the more I think it's not a fuel delivery issue, but more electrical issue. To me carb issues don't typically clear up.....then come back randomly, then clear up again.

So I finally had a spare few mins and pulled the carbs again to validate adjustments. Unfortunately the hose trick doesn't work on the low speed screws as there isn't enough room in there. So guess I'll have to find a way to adjust in the hull if necessary.

It looked pretty crusty. This is the old one. New one looked spotless.

I hope this ends up being the fix for you man, like we have been messaging about. I got a feeling it is after looking at those pics! Get her on the lake soon!

It definitely solved my problem, and it was still outputting correct voltage charge to battery, always higher than batt voltage at rest/engine off, but less than 15 volts throughout rev range showing that it was charging. Dang rectifier was distributing "electrical noise" throughout front box with MPEM affecting engine ign. system :(

You'll know immediately when you run it in the water if the new rectifier fixes the problem.

I bought probably a 1600 dollar ski for 800 a few years ago basically because of a bad rectifier, the P.O. thought there was something bad wrong with the engine.

Hmmm you may be right. When I did that test it was 13.5 volts through the rev range.......thought I read somewhere as long as it was about the 12.5 volts it was ok. Thought for rectifier being bad it had to be all over the map or stupid high like 16 volts? Told ya I'm retarded when it comes to troubleshooting. HAH! I can throw parts at anything hoping it fixes the problem though. LOL!

There are also 2 ground studs with 10mm nuts in the front sealed box with rectifier and mpem, I snugged those up when changing my rectifier and inspected for corrosion etc.

Yeah those were on super tight, but corroded to hell. Cleaned it up sanded off the rest of the corrosion then used electrical cleaner on it before bolting the new one up.
