I have a 97 gts with a 717 engine and I have had to do some work on it over the past couple of week...

I have replaced the gaskets on the exhaust a couple of times cause the bolts kept on backing out and causing leaking issues... I think I have that fixed as of today...

My problem is that after replacing the gaskets the other day I went to the lake and ran my ski it started fine and ran fine until I was just cruising at about half throttle and it felt like the engine was surging... So I came home and cleaned that carb then went back to the lake that next day...

Now the ski runs fine out of the water but as soon as you put the engine under a load it runs sluggish and wont get up to speed I took it off the trailer and I only got up to about 10 to 15 MPH...

I have replaced the fuel line and have no clue what the issue is...

Please help

Chris

when you replaced the fuel lines did you re-build the carbs as well? are your carb adjustments set where they should be? what do your plugs look like?

it sounds to me like your inturnal carb fillters are pluged or your plugs are fouled out.

I had the same problem, my carb filter was clogged and I needed to replace the plugs, they fouled up because of the reduced fuel.
