On my 97 Challenger, the ski pole is bent. I could not figure out why I could not raise or lower the pole. When I took it apart, I found out it is bent a little.

What is the best way to unbend it? I know Kustomcarl had said he fixed about 10 of them. What is the best way to do it.
Thanks

Mine exact same way just barely bent but enough that it wont go all the way down grrr
Their discontinued so cant even order one

Those darn poles are pretty easily bent. NEVER use them for tubing, as this puts way more stress on the pole than water skiing, etc.

I fixed mine using a vice

Do you have a tow hook down low on the rear of the boat? Mine does and that is what it is for. Its the silver thing in the pic above the swim platform.

Had a frend give me a hand. Got it unbent using a vice, boy it is pretty hard aluminum. When I bought the boat it was already bent, I hope it does not happen again.

Thanks for the image. Yes I have one, and I have been using it for tubing no problem. What should I connect to for tubing? Since I want to buy some cheap water skis soon, that will work people have said, but for tubing, it puts more pressure?

YEah the tow hook is for tubes. With a tube, the amount of drag on the boat is way too high and will bend the ski pylon.

However the Pylon allows better access to grab the rope and pull it snug when stopping. Thus avoiding any chance of it getting under the boat and into the impeller. I use the Pylon for tubing but not fully extended. Pull it up a few inches to clear the hatch (enough so it does not rub on the hatch and scuff the paint)

everyone says they bend there ski pole on tubes. one day I thought to my self, I really beat the crap out of my kids and friends on the tubes and I never bent the ski pole..... not 2 hours later, BENT!!! only at about a 20 deg angle.

the ski pole is WAY better for pulling tubes. it gets the rope out of the water for better whips. I'll make a couple new poles this winter out of solid Alum and see how they work.

Until then... the bent pole works fine. It just wont go down.
