Mpem repair....
Information about the MPEM’s functions are scattered in many post through out the forum. Although “All Things Custom” is capable of repairing MPEM’s that have the problem of continuously popping the supply current, 5 amp fuse, this doesn’t mean that if your MPEM is bad, that fix will completely repair your module.
Since the MPEM has several other functions which can fail, make certain that your problem is limited to just the fuse. While the MPEM is responsible for interpreting information, distributing information, start/stop function, DESS, ignition timing curve and the engine rev limiter, the continuous loss of that 5 amp fuse may not fix the problem with one of these functions, if the micro-processor fails.
Also, in the newer models, the MPEM works in tandem with the ECU (electronic control module) and the “Engine Management System” to interpret and send out signals to control the engines operation and efficiency.
While I support “All Things Custom” in having a great deal in his e-bay store for the ever expensive cost of a replacement MPEM, it should be noted that he is specific to what type of problem his repairs will correct. And that is, only if you have a problem keeping that 5 amp fuse from blowing out.
Please remember, there are several things that can go wrong with an MPEM not related to a problem fuse.
