Hi Everyone, had a big problem getting my new impeller to fit in the new wear ring. Ended up needing to chew quite a bit of the wear ring by slowly tightening the pump bolts while turning over the engine. Its all working great now but i think i forgot to put the small rubber stopper that goes at the end of the shaft. I plan to ride this thing hard this weekend, probably 3 or 4 cans of gas. no cruising, just playing.

Do you think it will be ok for this weekend? after the weekend i can rip it appart again and replace it. whats the worst that can happen?

its a 98 spx. Thanks guys and gals!

Why do you think you forgot it? If you have a rubber bumper sitting on your work bench then you will need to pull it apart and put it back in. the rubber helps to keep you drive shaft in its exact place. You can prematurely wear out your crank or strip the splines on your pto, impeller.

Problem is no bench, i was working at the front of my shop on the ground. it stayed apart for a few days and had people coming and going. could have been kicked or even swept up. I just dont remember putting it back the last time. I had the pump on and off quite a few times trying to get the wear ring to fit. took it for a rip yesterday and didnt hear anything unusual.

Would i be able to hear something different? thanks.

Lol I would too prob but still worth it to be sure. Shafts and pto's ain't cheap.I just bought both yep days ago. Used shaft on ebay for 80 and new aftermarket pto for $84

pulled it out of the water, took it off, damn thing is on there. Thanks for the insight

In that case get the broom out and sweep the debris from your work area, then go riding! :)

And your oil tank looks low, might wanna add a half gal or so.... Fill up the oil and check the gas!
