shaft guard

can we still run our challenger 1800 without the shaft guard? got a rope wound up in it and had to break out the guard to remove it. wondering if we will be ok for a while without it.

Remove it! You get better flow to the pump without it.

Put one of those swim float noodles(cut off 2 -10 inch sections and put on your tow rope about 6 feet and 8 feet ,tie knots big enough to hold in place and it will help to keep the rope from sinking and getting caught up in the shaft. Worked for me.
